A Sunday Reflection
I CONTROL
++++++
(14 Jun) -
You can't decide
the length of life, but you can control how you want to
live it.
You can't control the weather, but you can control your
mood.
You can't change your look, but you can smile.
You can't control others, but you can control yourself.
You can't foresee tomorrow, but you can utilize today
wisely.
You can't win everything, but you can try your very best
to achieve that.
Hope everyone can face
daily life positively and so be always happy...God Bless. |

Interacting With People With Disability
(14 Jun) -
Listen to the person with disabilities. Do not make
assumptions about what the person can or cannot do. When
speaking with a person with disabilities, talk DIRECTLY
to that person, not through the caregiver, whether the
person has mobility impairment, mental impairment, is
blind, or deaf and uses an interpreter. Extend common
courtesies to people with disabilities, as you would
with anyone else. Shake hands, etc. If the person cannot
shake your hand or receive your Card, he/she will tell
you. DO NOT BE ASHAMED OF YOUR ATTEMPT! If you are
having trouble understanding what the person is saying,
ask to repeat, rather than pretend to understand. The
former is respectful and leads to accurate
understanding; the latter is belittling and leads to
embarrassment. Offer assistance to a person with
disabilities, but WAIT till your offer is accepted,
before you help. It is OK to feel nervous or
uncomfortable around people with disabilities, and it is
OK to admit that it is human to feel that way at first.
Think PERSON first instead of disabilities.: you will
eventually relax…( Adapted from Bethany Home ‘Tips..’).
Enjoy your communications! |

Security of Children at Stake
We would once again like to highlight the security of children after catechism. Parents, especially of the primary children, are advised to personally fetch their children from their classes. We have noticed a few children waiting along Lorong Maktab after class. Kindly cooperate with us for the safety of your children!

Attendance of Sunday Catechism Students
Kindly be informed that all catechism students are required to meet at least 80% of attendance throughout the 2009 year. If this is not met with, the progression to the next level in 2010 is NO LONGER automatic. Your child/ward would be required to remain in the same class. Kindly take note.

200 Projects By 2010
I am urging all ministries, groups, ad-hoc groups and individuals, basically EVERYONE and ANYONE, to suggest or conceive a project as part of our aim to carry out 200 projects in the run-up to our 200th anniversary celebration in 2010. That means we have just a bit more than a year to realize this target! I would love to hear any ideas that you come up with, or projects you would like to carry out, so don’t hesitate to speak to me about it. There has been much talking, so now let us start to walk the talk. Let us celebrate 200 years of faith in action in 2010! -
