Parish Ministries - Language Apostolate
The respective language apostolate groupings were mainly created to cater to situations where linguistic difficulties resulted in certain parishioners being excluded from the life of the Church. Therefore, these groupings existed to nurture them in faith and community, to create a sense of belonging to the wider parish community and to reach out to a wider audience, inside and outside of the Church.

Chinese Apostolate   Tamil Apostolate

The Chinese Apostolate was set up to cater to those in the Chinese community who spoke and read primarily in Chinese, and found it a challenge to participate and feel a sense of belonging in the English-based mainstream of the parish. The apostolate caters for many areas of parish life, albeit in Chinese. They are responsible for arrangements in Chinese for Mandarin Mass, Sunday School, a specialised BEC Zone, spiritual and social activities and RCIA.

Suitability – Anyone who finds English a challenge, and prefers to be a part of Chinese-speaking parish life is welcome.

The Tamil Apostolate was set up to cater to those in the Indian community who either spoke/read primarily in Tamil, or found it a challenge to participate and feel a sense of belonging in the English-based mainstream of the parish. The apostolate caters for many areas of parish life, albeit in Tamil. They are responsible for arrangements in Tamil for Tamil Mass, a specialised BEC Zone and spiritual and social activities.

Suitability – Anyone who might find English a challenge for comfort, and prefers to be a part of Tamil-speaking parish life is welcome.
